Devil from Legend

This was a costume built for a friend for Halloween. This particular year I was taking a break and wasn't going to put a bunch of time into a new project. My friend convinced me otherwise. He wanted a devil costume and the first thing that popped to mind was the devil character called 'Darkness'  from the movie Legend ( memorably played by Mr. Tim Curry of Rocky Horror fame) .

The horns were made using styrofoam cut to shape, then giving them a round prfile, then cutting each horn in half and rotating the tips up for the nice compound curve bull horns. Wrapped them with tape (like a hockey stick) to give them strenght then covered with a nice'horn' material and mounted into the head piece. A chicken wire frame for the headpiece wrapped with a great fabric that had a skin-like texture and was stretchy like spandex allowing it to make all the corners nicely. A fabric and foam 'shirt' with the muscles stichted in then stuffed from behind, then airbrushed to bring them out. 'Clown' pants for the bottom half from another great evil looking fabric. Made up some elevator boots and attached a black plastic 'hoof' to the front. A black fur gator for the boots and voila 'hoofed' devils feet.. Black leather gloves , a cape and some shoulder 'armor' complted the costume.
