Bishop
| Bishop, As you may recall, was the humanoid droid
introduced in Aliens. Towards the end of the movie Bishop is torn into two
pieces by the queen alien but, being a droid, was still 'alive' and functioning
with only his top half..... enough so to rescue Newt as she was being pulled
out into the vacuum of space. The costume is a great mind boggler. At first glance it appears as if a helmeted pilot is carrying Bishops top half. Obviously Bishop's head and arms are mine and the pilots legs are mine. I made up a false front with the 'guts' hanging out and the rest of my body out the back through a hole. The pilots top half is fake and is strapped onto me like a back-pack. My bottom half goes through a hole in the front of the flightsuit. This was probably the cheapest costume to make and had many great compliments and strange looks. Unfortunately only a few steadfast sci-fi fans knew who Bishop was even though we had gone out as a group with the Alien costume a Facehugger victom and a Chest burster victom. (If you don't know who these charactors are then you really need to go and rent Aliens. It's a great movie. You won't be disapointed.) |
